🧀 Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Ingredients:
-
2 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or whole wheat)
-
2–3 slices of cheese (American, cheddar, Swiss, or a mix)
-
1–2 tablespoons butter (softened) or mayo
Instructions:
-
Butter one side of each bread slice (or spread with mayo for a golden crust).
-
Place cheese slices between the unbuttered sides of the bread.
-
Heat a skillet over medium heat.
-
Place the sandwich in the pan, buttered side down. Cook for 2–4 minutes until golden.
-
Flip and grill the other side until cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
-
Remove, rest for 1 minute, slice, and serve!
🧠 Tips for Success:
-
Low and slow: Cook on medium or medium-low heat for even browning and melty cheese.
-
Cover the pan: Helps the cheese melt faster.
-
Grate your cheese: Melts quicker and more evenly.
🧩 Variations to Try:
-
Add-ins: Tomato slices, caramelized onions, cooked bacon, or avocado.
-
Gourmet: Use brie, gruyère, or goat cheese with fig jam.
-
Spicy: Add jalapeños or hot sauce.
-
Sweet-savory: Try apple slices or a drizzle of honey with sharp cheddar.
