🥩 Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy
Ingredients (Serves 4):
For the Steaks:

1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 recommended)

¼ cup breadcrumbs

1 egg

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon mustard (yellow or Dijon)

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Gravy:

2 tablespoons butter

1 small onion, thinly sliced

1 cup mushrooms, sliced (white or cremini)

2 tablespoons flour
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper, to taste

Make the Steak Patties:

In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire, mustard, and seasonings.

Form into 4 oval-shaped patties.

Brown the Patties:

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add a bit of oil and cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side until browned (they don’t need to be fully cooked through). Remove and set aside.

Make the Gravy:

In the same pan, melt butter and add onions and mushrooms. Cook until softened and lightly browned (about 5–7 minutes).

Sprinkle flour over and stir for 1 minute to make a roux.

Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire. Simmer until thickened (4–5 minutes).

Simmer Everything Together:

Return the patties to the skillet. Spoon gravy over the top.

Cover and simmer for 10–15 minutes, until the steaks are fully cooked and tender.

Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles, with a ladle of gravy.
