For the Pudding Layer:
-
1 (5.1 oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix
-
2 cups cold milk
-
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1½ cups heavy whipping cream (or use Cool Whip for shortcut)
For the Layers:
-
1 box vanilla wafers or shortbread cookies
-
2–3 ripe bananas, sliced
-
1½ cups strawberries, sliced
-
Optional: crushed graham crackers or strawberry preserves (for layering)
Instructions:
-
Make the Pudding:
In a large bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk until smooth. Let it sit for 2 minutes to thicken. -
Add Condensed Milk and Vanilla:
Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until fully combined. -
Whip the Cream:
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the pudding mixture until smooth and fluffy. (Or fold in Cool Whip if using.) -
Layer the Dessert:
In a trifle dish or a 9×13 baking dish, layer as follows:-
Cookies
-
Banana slices
-
Strawberry slices
-
Pudding mixture
Repeat until you run out of ingredients, finishing with pudding on top.
-
-
Chill:
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (or overnight) to let the flavors meld and cookies soften. -
Serve:
Garnish with extra sliced fruit, cookie crumbs, or a drizzle of strawberry syrup.
💡 Tips:
-
Use firm, ripe bananas to avoid browning too quickly.
-
Macerate strawberries with a bit of sugar for extra sweetness and juiciness.
-
For a twist, add a layer of strawberry jam or strawberry puree.
