Apple salad

An apple salad is a fresh, crisp, and versatile dish that can be sweet, savory, or a bit of both. It’s perfect as a light side, a lunch option, or a potluck favorite.


🍎 Classic Apple Salad (Creamy Style)

Ingredients:

  • 2 large apples (like Gala, Fuji, or Honeycrisp), cored and chopped

  • ½ cup celery, chopped

  • ½ cup red or green grapes, halved

  • ⅓ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (toasted optional)

  • ¼ cup raisins or dried cranberries

  • ½ cup vanilla or plain Greek yogurt (or mayo for a richer version)

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (keeps apples from browning)

  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional, for added sweetness)

  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, toss chopped apples with lemon juice.

  2. Add celery, grapes, nuts, and dried fruit.

  3. In a small bowl, mix yogurt (or mayo) with honey and salt.

  4. Combine dressing with apple mixture and toss gently.

  5. Chill for 30 minutes before serving, if desired.


🥬 Optional Add-ins or Variations:

  • Savory twist: Add blue cheese crumbles and chopped bacon.

  • Waldorf style: Use mayo + whipped cream or yogurt, and add lettuce leaves.

  • Protein boost: Mix in diced chicken or turkey for a complete meal.
