Ingredients (for a 9×13 cake or two 8-inch rounds)

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

2Β½β3 cups powdered sugar, sifted

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla extract
-
Pinch of salt

1β2 tsp milk or cream (only if needed for consistency)

1. Make the Cake:

Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease a 9×13-inch pan or two 8-inch round cake pans.

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices.

In a large bowl, cream butter with both sugars until light and fluffy (2β3 minutes).

Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and applesauce. Mix well.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet, mixing until just combined.

Fold in nuts and/or raisins if using.

Pour batter into prepared pan(s) and smooth the top.

Bake for 35β40 minutes (9×13) or 28β32 minutes (8-inch rounds), until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool completely before frosting.
2. Make the Frosting:

Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.

Add powdered sugar gradually, then cinnamon, vanilla, and salt.

Beat until fluffy. If itβs too thick, add a splash of milk to loosen.
3. Assemble & Serve:

Frost cooled cake generously.
