Chicken Parmesan

Here’s a beloved Italian-American classic: Chicken Parmesan — crispy breaded chicken breasts topped with marinara sauce and gooey melted cheese. It’s comfort food that hits all the right notes.


🍗 Chicken Parmesan (Chicken Parmigiana)

🍽️ Serves: 4

⏱️ Time: ~45 minutes


📝 Ingredients:

  • 2 large chicken breasts, halved horizontally into cutlets (4 total)

  • Salt and pepper

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 1 ½ cups breadcrumbs (Italian seasoned preferred)

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • 1 ½ cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)

  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella

  • Fresh basil or parsley (for garnish)

  • Olive oil (for frying)


🔪 Instructions:

1. Prep the Chicken:

  • Pound chicken cutlets to even thickness (about ½ inch).

  • Season both sides with salt and pepper.

2. Bread the Cutlets:

  • Set up 3 bowls:
    → Flour
    → Beaten eggs
    → Breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, oregano, and garlic powder

  • Dredge chicken in flour, then egg, then breadcrumb mixture. Press firmly to coat.

3. Pan-Fry:

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  • Fry chicken 3–4 minutes per side, until golden and crispy. Set on paper towels.

4. Assemble & Bake:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • Place chicken on a baking sheet or in a baking dish.

  • Spoon marinara over each piece, then top with mozzarella.

  • Bake for 10–15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and chicken is cooked through.

5. Serve:

  • Garnish with fresh basil or parsley.

  • Serve over spaghetti, with a side salad or garlic bread.


🧠 Tips:

  • Use panko for extra crunch.

  • Add a slice of provolone for a cheesier melt.
