🍫 Easy Chocolate Mousse (No-Bake)
Ingredients (Serves 4):
-
200g (about 7 oz) dark chocolate (60–70% cocoa)
-
3 eggs, separated
-
2 tbsp sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
-
1 cup (240ml) heavy cream, cold
-
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
-
Pinch of salt
🥣 Instructions:
-
Melt the chocolate:
-
Break chocolate into small pieces and melt in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (double boiler), or microwave in 20-second bursts. Let it cool slightly.
-
-
Whip the cream:
-
In a cold bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Keep in the fridge.
-
-
Whip the egg whites:
-
In a clean bowl, whisk egg whites with a pinch of salt until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
-
-
Mix egg yolks into chocolate:
-
Stir the egg yolks (and vanilla if using) into the cooled melted chocolate until smooth.
-
-
Fold in whipped cream:
-
Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture — don’t deflate it.
-
-
Fold in egg whites:
-
Finally, gently fold in the beaten egg whites in 2–3 batches until just combined.
-
-
Chill:
-
Spoon into serving cups or bowls and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.
-
📝 Notes:
-
For a kid-safe version, you can skip the eggs and just use whipped cream + melted chocolate.
-
For a richer version, use ganache-style (melted chocolate + cream only).
-
Serve with whipped cream, berries, or shaved chocolate on top.
