🧀 Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Ingredients (for 1 sandwich):
-
2 slices of good bread (white, sourdough, brioche, or whole wheat)
-
2–3 slices of cheese (Cheddar, American, Swiss, or a mix)
-
1–2 tbsp butter (softened) or mayo (for the outside)
🔥 Instructions:
-
Butter the Bread:
-
Spread butter (or mayo) on one side of each slice of bread.
-
-
Assemble:
-
Place cheese slices between the unbuttered sides of the bread, so the buttered sides face out.
-
-
Grill:
-
Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.
-
Place sandwich in the pan. Cook slowly for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing lightly, until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
-
-
Serve:
-
Slice in half and serve hot. Great with tomato soup or pickles!
-
🧠 Pro Tips:
-
Low & slow is key—rushing it risks burning the bread before the cheese melts.
-
Try cheese combos: Cheddar + Mozzarella, Gruyère + Fontina, etc.
-
Want extra crunch? Add a sprinkle of Parmesan to the buttered side before grilling.
-
For added flair: add tomato slices, bacon, caramelized onions, or even a touch of hot honey inside.
