Kielbasa

Kielbasa (pronounced kee-uhl-BAH-sah) is a flavorful, smoked Polish sausage that’s incredibly versatile. It can be grilled, sautéed, roasted, or simmered and pairs beautifully with everything from cabbage and potatoes to rice, pasta, and eggs.


Quick and Easy Kielbasa Recipes

🔥 1. Kielbasa and Peppers Skillet

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb kielbasa, sliced into rounds

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 small onion, sliced

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions:

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  • Sauté kielbasa until browned (5–7 minutes).

  • Add peppers, onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until veggies are tender (another 7–10 minutes).

  • Serve over rice, potatoes, or as-is.


🥘 2. Kielbasa and Sauerkraut (Stovetop or Crockpot)

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb kielbasa, cut into chunks

  • 2 cups sauerkraut (drained)

  • 1/2 onion, sliced

  • 1 apple, peeled and chopped (optional, for sweetness)

  • 1/2 tsp caraway seeds (optional)

  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or beer

Instructions:

  • In a pot or slow cooker, combine all ingredients.

  • Simmer on low for 30 minutes (or in a slow cooker on LOW for 4–5 hours).

  • Serve with rye bread or mashed potatoes.


🧀 3. Cheesy Kielbasa Pasta Bake

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz pasta (penne or rotini)

  • 1 lb kielbasa, sliced

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella

  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • Salt & pepper

Instructions:

  • Cook pasta; drain.

  • In a skillet, brown kielbasa. Combine with pasta, cheeses, soup, and milk.

  • Pour into a greased baking dish. Top with extra cheese.

  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes until bubbly.


🥚 4. Kielbasa Breakfast Hash

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb kielbasa, sliced

  • 2 cups diced potatoes (pre-cooked or canned)

  • 1 bell pepper, diced

  • 1/2 onion, diced

  • Eggs (optional)

  • Seasonings: paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper

Instructions:

  • Brown kielbasa and set aside.

  • In same pan, cook potatoes, onions, and peppers until golden.

  • Add kielbasa back in. Crack in a few eggs and cook to your liking.
